Connections: an exploration of Creativity, Nature and Identity

Type of Event: Multi Art Exhibition

As part of the Gwanwyn festival this year, The Hearth Gallery is delighted to announce our new exhibition, ‘Connections: an exploration of Creativity, Nature and Identity’, which is a showcase of artwork and creativity produced within a recent collaborative art project between University students and patients at hospital.

Between January and March this year, second year students on BA (Hons) Creative and Therapeutic Arts at the University of South Wales and patients and staff on Ward East 18, An Adult Mental Health Ward at University Hospital Llandough have collaborated together by virtually by sending ‘digital artwork postcards’ back and forth. With engaging virtual artwork received by the students, the staff provided creative art sessions with the patients to respond to the students by making their own artwork using a variety of creative materials. Photographs of the creative work were then sent back to the students and the process started again.

The exhibition in the Hearth Gallery will showcase this ongoing process and creative relationship that the students and patients have built over the last few months and will also include final artworks by the students in response to the overall project, of which some, will be donated to the Ward.

The exhibition will be available online from the 28th April – 6th June 2021.
