Butetown Elders – Dust off your Djembes & African Song Workshops
Type of Event: Music Workshop
A long-awaited opportunity to bring people (50+) together in the Butetown area to rediscover old skills, develop new ones, and to re-establish groups and face-to-face contact.
The Successors of the Mandingue will be facilitating two workshops: 1) “Dust off your Djembes” an African drumming/percussion workshop 3-4.30pm and 2) “African Song’ a singing workshop 5-6.30pm.
There will also be an opportunity for both groups to come together to do an informal pop-up busk outdoors to perform what they have learned at the end the day. Refreshments will be provided for those staying the course!
The two workshops will be indoors and limited to 13 participants in line with statutory guidance, the WMC’s own risk assessment, and to ensure safe social distancing. Masks will be required while moving within the building. Participants are encouraged to bring their own percussion instruments if they have them.
Advance booking is essential to avoid disappointment.
